Benoy project Victoria Place celebrates M&S store opening

Benoy’s multi-million-pound revitalisation project for Woking town centre has taken a major step forward after leading UK retailer Marks & Spencers opened its new 50,000 square foot flagship store as part of the completion of the first phase of the Victoria Place development.

The opening was celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by the Mayor of Woking, Cllr Liam Lyons, and Leader of Woking Borough Council, Cllr Ayesha Azad.

Robert Bentley, who is leading the project for Benoy, commented:‘This is a significant moment for the scheme as we look to drive forward to completion later this year. We are delighted to see an iconic retailer such as M&S open on site, which alongside Boots, will help anchor the retail extension, reinforcing the high standards already set by new retail and restaurant brands in the town centre.

The regeneration of Woking is all about improving local infrastructure and the public realm to create a vibrant town centre where people want to be. It’s about attracting third-party investment while ensuring that Woking, far from being just a gateway to other areas, becomes a destination in its own right.’

Benoy is delivering architecture, masterplanning and interior design for the project; a £700 million joint venture between Woking Borough Council and Moyallen Group and a key component in the council’s mission to create a high quality, modern environment where people aspire to live and businesses choose to locate.

In addition to the 125,000 sq ft of new premium retail space, Victoria Place Woking features 429 residential apartments in two iconic sky-high towers, a new four star Hilton hotel, two public plazas and new parking facilities.

Congratulations to the Benoy team:

Rob Bentley, Vickie Cheung, Stefano Sedda, Jeremy Tymms, Oana Munteanu, Jennifer Asiedu, David Ward, Allan Dor, Rachel Pires, Anthony Lau, Elgan Davis, Terry Hale.
