Challenge

Following the collapse of Eaton’s legacy department stores across Canada, our client saw an opportunity to rethink retail property development. Focusing on a key asset, we were asked to help deliver a new design vision and optimise instore performance.

Solution

Through creative remerchandising, we focused on emulating the high-street shopping experience. Inspired by building façades, we developed additional revenue-generating retail units with dramatically scaled three-dimensional storefronts, and conceived a seamless glass roof to provide an abundance of natural lighting for an outdoor shopping sensation.

Result

Our design concepts helped to transform a once-leading fashion mall into an urban streetscape, recreating the vibrancy of high-street retail. With storefronts rising over 30 feet in height, we provided an expansive canvas on which international brands can make bold architectural statements. As a result, the asset continues to be the country’s highest-performing shopping centre, welcoming many first-to-market and exclusive retail tenants.
