Challenge

The addition of a 9,100 sqm new retail extension to Westfield Černý Most presented an opportunity to reimagine a popular retail hub as a vibrant, community-focused destination for Prague. Our interior design team set out to create spaces that felt authentic, contemporary, and distinctly local, where visitors could connect, explore, and unwind within an environment that celebrated the city’s architectural character and human scale.

Solution

Our concept drew inspiration from Prague’s urban heritage, namely its terracotta rooftops, whitewashed façades, and enduring stone streets. The designs imagined spaces that felt authentic, contemporary, and distinctly local, all delivered with a modern, tactile materials palette.

Result

Visitors to the centre get to enjoy a holistic and intuitive experience. Terracotta, pale plaster, and stone are reinterpreted with clean lines and refined details, while bold contrasts of black mesh ceilings and rendered concrete bring an urban energy that feels both organic and contemporary.

Lighting plays a pivotal role in the design, creating warmth and rhythm and seamlessly uniting F&B and retail through a shared sense of materiality and tone. Soft planting and timber detailing temper the robust architectural language, creating balance between the industrial and the inviting.

At the heart of the redesign is a commitment to community experience. Every detail, from the bathrooms to the communal dining areas, is considered as part of a holistic journey. The newly envisioned Grand Kitchen forms a lively social hub, adaptable for community events and informal gatherings, while flexible seating options accommodate diverse visitor needs, from group dining to quiet moments of retreat. Walls of characterful terracotta tiles in the food hall bring warmth and texture whilst evoking a sense of local architecture.

The space is designed especially with families in mind. The Garden Room is tailored to children and parents alike, drawing on biophilic principles and research into how children engage with space. Natural textures and playful detailing create a sense of discovery, maintaining a cohesive aesthetic while enriching the family experience.

In the bathrooms, warm terracotta tiles, black mesh ceiling and smooth brushed concrete come together to create a quietly refined space that evokes calm and wellbeing.

Westfield Černý Most opened in November 2025.
