Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 expansion upgrades facilities and increases retail and food and beverage offerings across the terminal. The Meeters and Greeters Hall is the primary arrival touchpoint for passengers arriving at the upgraded Terminal 1 and serves as the connection zone between the terminal and Jewel Changi Airport. Changi Airport Group appointed Benoy to deliver aviation planning, interior design, and space planning for the hall.

Connecting Terminal 1 and Jewel

The design’s central consideration was creating a strong and legible connection between Terminal 1 and Jewel Changi Airport. A stone feature wall was introduced as a visual connector and wayfinding device, a deliberate architectural gesture that orients arriving passengers and draws the eye toward Jewel. Material selection for the flooring and ceiling was equally considered, establishing a clear directional language that guides movement from one space to the next without reliance on signage alone.
