Huangpu riverfront mixed-use complex in central Shanghai
One East Plaza, in Shanghai’s Huangpu District, is positioned on the Huangpu riverfront with unobstructed views and direct metro access. The complex sits within 20 minutes of all five of Shanghai’s major central business districts, and within 3km of over 800,000 residents and 200,000 office workers. The development holds LEED Platinum and FITWEL certifications.

Braided Huangpu River facade
The facade concept, ‘Braided Huangpu River’, draws from the movement and layering of the river to establish a formal language that weaves the commercial annexes and office towers into a unified whole. Four towers of differing heights are positioned at the plot boundary, framing views of the river and the broader Shanghai skyline. Two taller towers command wide sightlines across the district, while the remaining two are connected underground, standing apart within the composition. Horizontal lines across the tower facades reinforce unity across the cluster.
A layered public realm
Commercial blocks, mixed-use annexes, and a sunken civic square create a multi-level public environment at the base of the towers, connecting the food court and underground commercial space to the street level above. Pedestrian routes from all sides draw visitors through the complex via the central square, offering varied experiences across different levels and weather conditions. The development is crowned with rooftop gardens that extend the public landscape upward.
