Challenge
Shanghai Huamu Time Edition was developed to create a dynamic mixed-use destination that seamlessly blends culture, art, and commerce in the competitive Lujiazui financial district.
The design addressed spatial improvements by transforming a narrow, low-ceiling entrance into an expansive and inviting gateway, while enhancing public areas for better flow and engagement.
Sustainability was a key focus, with strategies to manage excess heat and reduce energy consumption during peak seasons.
Solution
Benoy designed a culturally immersive space with the concept “Framed – A Fusion of Chinese and Western Commercial Art Galleries,” enhancing visitor engagement through art and commerce.
The design transformed the central atrium and entrance areas to improve spatial openness and flexibility, introducing reflective materials to reduce visual constraints.
Structured ceiling blocks and sustainable design features were implemented to optimize lighting and reduce energy usage.
Result
The grand opening showcased Shanghai Huamu Time Edition as a landmark cultural and commercial hub. It featured the city’s first international art gallery, flagship lifestyle and entertainment stores, and exclusive exhibitions such as the 2024 Shanghai International Light Festival.
These highlights elevated the mall’s reputation as a vibrant “Next Destination,” offering an inspiring blend of art, culture, and commerce.
