As one of the largest international airports in the UK, Manchester Airport has a phenomenal passenger footfall. The £1billion expansion of Terminal 2 was therefore the biggest single construction project to take place in Greater Manchester, and we needed to create a modern, inspirational space for travellers.
We applied a contemporary style in the International Departure Lounge, blending urban and organic features. Hexagonal honeycomb patterns form the interior language, representing the bee symbol of Northern England’s industrious heritage, complemented by an impressive, double-storey green wall.
Terminal 2 provides a visually rich and diverse space for passengers, while accentuating the region’s strong identity. Surrounding a luxurious and leafy lounge area is an expansive retail, dining and lifestyle offering, perfectly orchestrated for both a tranquil and exhilarating place of escape before passengers make their onward journeys around the world.
