The first UK campus to combine motorsport, higher education and homes

A three-storey podium of leisure, retail and entertainment frames Hudson Square, a central plaza set back from the surrounding roads. At its heart, the 10,821m2 Motorsport Experience Centre will operate as a public venue, surrounded by flexible commercial, leisure and university-led engineering and technology space. Step-free access is built in throughout, with the whole site fully accessible. Hudson Square is a programmable space for exhibitions, screenings and community events, kept animated day and night by the residential, student and hotel use

1.6 hectares

The London Motorsport Campus is at the gateway to the Golden Mile, the capital’s automotive innovation corridor. The 1.6-hectare site sits between the Great West Road, M4, Larch Drive and Gunnersbury Avenue. It will combine motorsport entertainment, higher education, retail, leisure, public realm, 234 homes, 275 student accommodation rooms and a 189-room hotel: the first UK development to do so on a single site. The design draws on the Golden Mile’s century-long heritage of automobile manufacturing, and planning consent has been secured from the London Borough of Hounslow.

A sustainability strategy built around adaptability

The sustainability strategy spans embodied and operational carbon and prioritises long-term adaptability. The Motorsport Experience Centre and the wider development use high-performance building envelopes, triple glazing and photovoltaic energy generation. Green roofs and climber façades will support urban ecology and biodiversity, with rooftop access for residents. The envelope also mitigates noise and air pollution from the adjacent road network.
