A multi-year commercial strategy for Belgium’s principal international airport
Brussels Airport handles approximately 70,000 passengers every day and is Belgium’s principal international airport. Brussels Airport Company (BAC) commissioned Benoy to develop a multi-year commercial strategy across duty-free, food and beverage, retail, and services, designed to support passenger satisfaction and commercial performance through a period of forecast passenger growth. The work built on an established Benoy-BAC relationship dating back to 2018.

Audience, performance, market trends and supportable space
The work assessed passenger profile and commercial needs across; trading performance at unit level; and global market trends in airport retail and F&B. From this analysis the team identified terminal zones where space could be better utilised, modelled the supportable commercial scale across each zone, and worked alongside the client’s design team to develop planning options for each. Benoy’s work was extended beyond 2025 to support long-term planning.
Quick wins and a forecasting tool
The strategy delivered a clear set of near-term quick wins for immediate implementation, alongside medium- and long-term recommendations covering operating models, product mix, and range allocation across the terminal’s commercial estate. Benoy also built a custom sales forecasting tool for the BAC team, supporting ongoing strategic planning beyond the engagement and giving the airport’s commercial team an in-house capability for revenue modelling against changing passenger profiles.
