Qin Pang, Director and Head of the Shanghai Studio, commented: “Thank you to the judges for their professional recognition of both Nanjing Alibaba Center and Beijing Century Golden Resources Shopping Centre. We’re especially honoured that Nanjing Alibaba Centre received the most prestigious award of the year in the overall Asia category.
The Nanjing Alibaba Centre stands out as one of the few integrated developments in China’s urban construction landscape and is a key example of our research on multi-dimensional cities. We hope that the project’s value will be reflected through user experiences in the future.
The renovation of Beijing Century Golden Resources, on the other hand, is a representative practice of urban renewal. Rooted in the needs of the stock era, it taps into the value of existing assets and enhances spatial quality through comprehensive architectural and interior upgrades.”
Nanjing Alibaba Center
Located in the Jianye District and covering nearly 900,000m², Nanjing Alibaba Center is the company’s largest facility in China. This self-developed hub integrates offices, retail spaces, residences, commercial headquarters, cultural and sports amenities, and transit systems. Inspired by Alibaba’s spirit of innovation, the development achieved China’s Three-Star Green Building Certification, and it features an expansive public realm with a terraced rooftop park, cross-campus pedestrian routes, and a flying saucer-inspired entrance portal, all contributing to a unique environment that exemplifies our design innovation.
Beijing Golden Resources Shopping Center
Covering 18.2 hectares with a total built area of 615,000m², the Beijing Golden Resources Shopping Centre has been a hotspot for visitors since it opened two decades ago. Our renovation blends traditional elements with a contemporary aesthetic, creating a distinct identity that’s rooted in history. Incorporating locally sourced, recyclable materials and features such as rooftop photovoltaic panels and natural ventilation, we have significantly enhanced the development’s energy efficiency and extended its lifespan.
Congratulations to our clients for their trust and partnership throughout the creative journey. These achievements are testament to our project teams, whose talent and shared commitment to excellence have turned ambitious concepts into reality.
