Benoy’s Interior Design team create vibrant community-focussed space at Westfield Černý Most shopping centre
Benoy’s Interior Design team has created a vibrant community-focussed destination for Prague as part of the newly rebranded 94 000 sq m Westfield Černý Most shopping centre.
Our designs for the new 9,100 sqm space draw inspiration from Prague’s urban heritage, including its terracotta rooftops, whitewashed façades, and stone streets. The result is a modern, tactile environment that that evokes local character whilst supporting traditional craftsmanship.
Visitors to the centre will enjoy a holistic and intuitive experience. Terracotta, pale plaster, and stone are reinterpreted with clean lines and refined details, while bold contrasts of black mesh ceilings and rendered concrete bring an urban energy that feels both organic and contemporary. At the same time, soft planting and timber elements temper the robust architecture, creating a balanced environment that feels both expressive and inviting.
Commenting, Ben Perman, Project Director and design lead for the project said: “The new retail extension gave us an opportunity to rethink the space not just as a shopping centre, but as a true community destination for Prague. Paired with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s design principles, we wanted to create spaces that felt authentic, contemporary, and distinctly local; environments where people could connect, explore, and relax. Our goal was to celebrate the city’s architectural character while making the space feel welcoming on a human scale.”
Unibail Rodamco Westfield’s scheme has been developed in line with URW’s ‘Better Places’ sustainability plan and is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification.
