On 25 September, Benoy was honoured to be invited by our client Ciputra Group to speak at SYNC: APIA 2025 in Surabaya, Indonesia. Project Director Azaria Lee delivered a keynote at the event, hosted by Universitas Ciputra (Ciputra University), which brought together more than 400 students, lecturers, alumni, and industry partners.
Shaping Cities Worldwide
In her keynote, “Shaping Cities Worldwide: Insights for Fresh Graduates from Benoy’s International Practice,” Azaria shared perspectives on design, culture, and career readiness. She highlighted:
• Benoy’s international projects and global design philosophy.
• The collaborative culture of the Singapore Studio, where interns and young architects play active roles.
• The role of sustainability and technology in shaping resilient, future-ready cities.
• Case studies of adaptive reuse and carbon-conscious design, including 18 Cross in Singapore and Huafa Wuhan City Hub in China.
• Guidance for young architects on bridging academic knowledge with professional practice.
The session concluded with a Q&A, where Azaria was joined by Mr. Haryanto Ong, Deputy GM Planning Design at Ciputra Group and FIABCI Member, in a discussion moderated by Ni Putu Aryani, Ph.D, Lecturer at Universitas Ciputra.
