We are proud to celebrate the official launch of two significant marine-focused landmarks at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS): the reimagined Singapore Oceanarium and the adjacent Research and Learning Centre.
Both projects are part of the S$6.8 billion Resorts World Sentosa Waterfront Lifestyle Development, for which Benoy provided the masterplan and architectural design, an ambitious transformation set for completion by 2030.
Celebrating the launch of a purposeful marine destination
Our team was honoured to attend the closed-door opening ceremony on 23 July 2025, alongside Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu, Singapore Tourism Board Chief Executive Melissa Ow, and Genting Singapore Executive Chairman Mr Lim Kok Thay.
Opening to the public on 24 July, the Singapore Oceanarium marks a key milestone in Singapore’s Tourism 2040 vision and serves as a centrepiece of the marine precinct designed by Benoy. Blending immersive storytelling with marine education and conservation, the attraction promotes biodiversity awareness and anchors a new era of purposeful travel.
Designing for impact: Iconic canopy and zero-energy learning hub
Benoy is proud to have designed two key elements of this marine-focused destination: the wave-like blue-and-white entrance canopy of the Singapore Oceanarium and the façade of the adjacent Research and Learning Centre.
The canopy’s undulating form creates a striking sense of arrival, echoing the rhythm of the ocean. Next door, the Research and Learning Centre, designed as a fully solar-powered, flexible education hub has achieved Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy certification from Singapore’s BCA.
Shaping future-ready destinations
As highlighted by Minister Fu during the opening, the Oceanarium enhances Singapore’s tourism appeal while supporting national sustainability goals. STB Chief Executive Melissa Ow called the project a “significant milestone” for next-generation, purposeful travel, which also underscores Benoy’s vision for future-ready design in shaping meaningful destinations.
We would like to thank Resorts World Sentosa for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful journey. Benoy is honoured to shape places that connect people to nature, through architecture that inspires action, deepens understanding, and enables discovery.
