Held in Shanghai on 24 – 25 April, the 9th Workplace+ China Summit gathered industry leaders to discuss emerging trends and innovations in workplace design.
Bo Shi, Architect Associate Director at Benoy, was invited to speak on “Exploration and Practice of Office Space Design,” where he shared insights into evolving user needs and presented Benoy’s latest workplace projects and strategies.
The two-day summit brought together a diverse group of professionals — from office developers and workplace operators to corporate facilities leaders, industrial park directors, research institutions, and solution providers. Discussions focused on the future of office environments, covering topics such as sustainable workplace strategies, ESG integration, and the impact of emerging technologies like AI. These exchanges fostered meaningful connections and opened new pathways for cross-industry collaboration.
As the summit’s sole representative from the architectural design industry, Bo Shi offered a distinctive perspective on both exterior and interior workplace design. He emphasised that successful office buildings must balance functionality, efficiency, comfort, identity — and sustainability:
“Effective office design starts with clear functional zoning, allocating space for workstations, meeting rooms, and rest areas to maximise efficiency. Natural lighting and ventilation are essential for a comfortable, human-centric environment.
Smart technologies from intelligent security systems to efficient vertical circulation enhance daily operations. Just as important is reflecting corporate culture through materials, colour, and visual identity. And at every stage, sustainability should guide decisions from eco-friendly materials to energy-efficient systems that support green, future-ready workplaces.”
Organised by Noppen Group, the two-day summit welcomed over 100 professionals from the real estate, pharmaceutical, technology, automotive, consultancy, and investment sectors, fostering meaningful cross-industry dialogue and collaboration.
