Benoy supports the ULI Asia Pacific Summit 2024: Sharing resilient design practices, building new connections and showcasing PARCO Shibuya

Benoy was honoured to once again support the ULI Asia Pacific Summit, the region’s largest gathering of real estate leaders and thought experts, held last week in Tokyo, Japan. With over 600 attendees from across Asia Pacific and globally, the four-day event centred on addressing global challenges and opportunities in the built environment, emphasizing sustainability and empowering our future generations. It featured engaging study tours, insightful thought leadership sessions and networking activities across multiple locations in vibrant Tokyo.

Terence Seah shares resilient and sustainable design strategies for Asia’s ageing infrastructure

On the Main Conference Day, at the panel session entitled Live Long, Live Green: Sustainable Strategies for Asia’s Aging Infrastructure,” Terence Seah, Head of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shenzhen, examined the challenges and opportunities surrounding the region’s evolving and aging infrastructure.

Joined by panellists Esther An of City Developments Limited, Tim Forman of Undivided Ventures, Manvendra Singh Shekhawat of Dune, and moderator Prof Greg Clark CBE FAcSS, the discussion encompassed topics such as expanding the circular economy, implementing nature-based solutions, and optimising asset value. Additionally, they emphasised the importance of sustainability impact reporting for evaluating ROI on sustainability investments.

Creating new connections at the ULI Asia Pacific Leadership Dinner

Terence Seah, Teri Tsang, Director & Hong Kong Studio Lead, and Maybelyne Ng, APAC Head of Marketing and Communications attended the ULI Leadership Dinner at the historic Tsunamachi Mitsui Club, established in 1913 and owned by the Mitsui Group. This intimate banquet allowed us to foster new connections among industry leaders and reconnect with senior executives globally, discussing untapped opportunities in redeveloping and reimagining our cities and communities.

Benoy leads ULI study tour of the iconic PARCO Shibuya

In one of the Summit’s sold-out study tours, we proudly showcased PARCO Shibuya, a Tokyo landmark Benoy rejuvenated in 2019. Teri Tsang, Director and Hong Kong Studio lead, alongside Terence Seah, Head of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shenzhen, and Maybelyne Ng, APAC Head of Marketing and Communications, led an international delegation of developers, investors and thought leaders to appreciate the vibrant retail destination at the heart of Shibuya.

Highlights of PARCO included the unique 3D exterior structure, inspired by Shibuya’s landscape. Delegates enjoyed the dynamic tenant mix, unique interior architecture, and the outdoor vertical journey integrating lush biophilia. On this clear day, they experienced stunning city views from the plaza, with a glimpse of Mount Fuji on the horizon.

The tour showcased Shibuya’s dynamic blend of modern development, vibrant arts scene, and iconic landmarks, unveiling its past, present, and future.

Benoy extends our sincere appreciation to ULI Asia Pacific for a highly successful event. We are grateful for the invaluable insights, knowledge sharing, unique study tours, quality networking, and dynamic conversations. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to engage in discussions on shaping cities, pushing boundaries, and reimagining possibilities through innovative architecture and landscape design.

We look forward to again supporting the Summit next year in Hong Kong!
