China Merchants Commercial Property Management | Tianfu Garden City
Benoy provided comprehensive master planning, architectural design, and interior design for this project. Located in the southern region of Chengdu Tianfu New Area, it aims to be Garden City 2.0 — a park-centric commercial complex. Situated in the Tianfu Central Business District, it serves as the main centre of the new area and Chengdu’s future urban hub. The project is strategically positioned to showcase the city’s image and enhance urban life compared to other plots.
The project is designed with a focus on families, leveraging concentrated commerce, and integrate the green corridor ecology with internal ecology to establish Chengdu’s inaugural “ecological immersive family-oriented shopping mall.”
Embracing the concept of “aesthetic abundance inspired by oxygen,” the centre encompasses art, leisure, entertainment, dining, and natural ecology. The design adopts the idea of “wandering in wonderland,” seamlessly fusing natural ecology with architectural design to craft a comprehensive “Garden City 2.0,” from the thematic highlights to façade design.
The project meticulously crafts a lush ecological setting, focusing on elements such as ecological facility layout, architectural highlights, activity coordination, and customized store décor.
Tailored for families and children, it offers comprehensive family services, encompassing both hardware and software facilities, along with all-weather family-friendly business configurations. The project is scheduled to open in 2024.

Through the harmonious integration of Joy City’s focus on young consumers, fashion, trends, and modern tastes with the distinctive attributes of Guanggu’s consumers, the project aspires to establish a versatile complex celebrated for “leisure, entertainment, technology, and social interaction.” This influence extends to the core consumer base in Optics Valley and resonates across its surrounding industries, government, and enterprises.
The project is located in the Guanggu New Area in Wuhan, a high-tech industrial zone well-known throughout China. The name“Guanggu” is formed of the characters“Guang”, meaning light, and“Gu”, meaning valley. The design ethos of Wuhan Joy City, encapsulated in the theme ” Valley of Light,” prioritises an iconic city-scale image externally while fostering a human-scale internal valley environment.
