The programme “Architecture Dream” on Phoenix TV showcased the remarkable achievements of Hainan’s developments, particularly highlighting the Sanya CDF Mall. This project integrates retail, entertainment and leisure into a comprehensive and transformative development, making it the first and only destination of this kind in Hainan.
Benoy, the architectural designer behind the remarkable Sanya CDF Mall II, explained the unique sea-shell inspired design of this extraordinary project. Teri Tsang, Director and Hong Kong Studio Lead, described the sea-shell inspired design of Sanya CDF Mall II as iconic, stating,
“The design of the shell incorporates lines that align with the functional spaces, influencing people’s vision and movement, creating a visually captivating spatial experience. The sunken areas within the undulations of the shell are designed to accommodate a water storage system, providing a water source and suitable irrigation for the landscape. Our ultimate aim was to construct a low-carbon and sustainable architectural complex.”
Located on Hexin Island in Haitang Bay, Sanya CDF Mall II is a mixed-use commercial development that celebrates the stunning natural surroundings and diverse environment of the area. The mall adopts a human-centric approach to maximize visitor experience and engagement. The incorporation of a double-decker design method optimizes space utilization and creates a dynamic and enriching atmosphere that guides foot traffic to different spaces.
