ICONSIAM is one of Asia’s most exciting new developments and is a 750,000m2 mega-destination that combines retail, residential, art and culture. Benoy led the interior design for the retail features of the development and also devised the concept for the architecture, creating a contemporary shopping destination for local and international visitors.
The symbolic lotus flower and the Chao Phraya River has inspired the interiors whilst the river body inspired the fluid forms of the plan which wraps around two feature internal retail buildings. Overall, Benoy has created a space that is contemporary and modern but one that still maintains local cultural values.
“We’re thrilled to have been on this journey with ICONSIAM. An important part of the brief was to create a destination for everyone and we are proud of how this vision has been delivered, collaboratively with the local team,” said Senior Associate Director, Amelia Robinson.
ICONSIAM features impressive retail offerings, with more than 7,000 Thai and international brands represented, many for the first time in Thailand. The space includes the first flagship Apple Store in Thailand; the first Nike Kicks Lounger in Southeast Asia; Asia’s largest Adidas Original Store; and an area of 2,500m2 called ICONCRAFT that presents an array of local art pieces.
On the ground floor is a four-acre space called SookSiam where communities from Thailand’s 77 provinces present their creative capabilities, whether it be in products or performances. SookSiam aims to be a platform where provincial products can benefit from professional merchandising and marketing the help them penetrate international markets. Among the features at ICONSIAM is the River Park, a 10,000m2 riverside community space that is open to the public every day. There is also a multi-media water feature, which is the longest in Southeast Asia, that is designed to be a global iconic attraction.
