The Evolution of Benoy

As Benoy begins its 71st year of designing, it remains an industry leader. A global family of design specialists, the company is committed to delivering world-class solutions for the built environment and to fulfil this ambition, it must constantly evolve to be the best version of itself. At Benoy, the next phase of that evolution continues with the launch of its new brand identity.

The new brand mark was inspired by the carved lettering in the title stone at one of its earliest office buildings, a beautiful classical residence called Handley House in Newark, Nottinghamshire. This is where the Benoy story began over 70 years ago and where its headquarters remain to this day. A new colour palette has been introduced which uses the opposing yet complementary principles of black and white with the addition of colour through new photography and moving image.

The re-brand of Benoy and the introduction of its sister company Holmes Wood in 2016 presented a moment to reflect on the identity of the parent group, Benoy Global. The outcome of those discussions is the creation of Handley House whose name is a poignant nod to the company’s creative and commercial heritage.

Tom Cartledge, CEO, Benoy said: This is an incredibly exciting moment in our seven-decade journey. Our new brand is a true reflection of the amazing work being undertaken by our studios globally and there are many inspiring projects on the drawing board which are illustrative of our commitment to changing the world in which we live through design.”
