Benoy’s Shanghai Studio on the Rise

Following a momentous 70th year in 2017, Benoy will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in Shanghai in 2018. The milestone coincides with a number of exciting announcements for Benoy’s Shanghai Team which include a new look studio, project wins and key developments counting down to completion.

New look studio

As part of Benoy’s growth in Shanghai, the team has unveiled a newly refurbished studio which will house its expanding team of over 55. The firm has extended its floor plate within Shanghai ICC, a development designed by Benoy, and redesgined the space to reflect the culture of collaboration it supports.

Speaking of the new studio format, Simon Wong, Benoy’s Director in Shanghai said, I was personally inspired by the way we work, think and communicate. This drove me to reimagine the studio in a way that would foster our style of collaboration. When people visit our studio now, they see the energy and activity of all our designers working together in one space.”

The newly designed studio features interactive whiteboards, a green wall and a suite of collaboration areas.

Shaping cities across China

The expansion of the Shanghai Studio and Team reflects the growing portfolio of work undertaken by Benoy. The team is due to celebrate a number of project completions in 2018 including the twin tower development The New Bund World Trade Center (Phase I) in the Qiantan Central Business District, Alibaba HQ in Hongqiao and the innovative retail village Joy City in Hangzhou.

We are excited to see so many of our designs coming to completion in our 10th anniversary year. There’s no better way to celebrate our success over the last decade than to see our designs shaping the cities in which we work,” said Qin Pang, Director and Head of Studio in Shanghai.

Benoy’s Shanghai Team is also busy designing its next generation of projects. The conversion of a waterfront ice factory into a retail-led destination in Nanjing is just one of the many projects on the drawing board which looks to bring Benoy’s brand of engaging Places for people’ to cities across China and beyond.

Anniversary celebrations

The 10th anniversary plans are set to culminate in a wider celebration for Benoy Shanghai mid-year. With the addition of Benoy’s new visual identity which will be launched on 31 January, the stage is set for a milestone moment for the team and all that has been achieved since establishing Benoy in China in 2008.
