A first building within Benoy’s Qiantan masterplan
The New Bund World Trade Center (Phase 1) occupies Plot ES4 within the Qiantan Central Business District in Pudong, Shanghai, a masterplan that Benoy itself developed for Lujiazui Group following a 2012 international competition win. Phase 1 covers 95,000 square metres and was delivered for the same client as one of the first commercial schemes built out under that framework.

A composition of office towers and ground-level commercial
Two 135-metre Grade A office towers stand on the east of the plot, totalling 80,000m² of workspace. To the west, a three-storey commercial district of around 15,000m² addresses the public realm at street scale. The two elements were designed to read as one composition while serving distinct programmes: offices for the thousands of professionals working in Qiantan, retail and amenity for the wider district.
Pedestrian bridge and underground passage
A pedestrian bridge and an underground passage, set within the two-storey car park structure, connect the commercial district and office towers without requiring movement at street level. The arrangement reflects the wider Qiantan masterplan’s commitment to a permeable, pedestrian-led district anchored on three intersecting subway lines.
Green at every level
Green space is distributed throughout the scheme rather than concentrated at the base. Roof gardens, terraces and tower balconies bring planting into daily use across the office floors and the commercial podium, with the public landscape at ground level continuous with the wider Qiantan public realm.
