A sanctuary between destinations

Located within Jewel at Changi Airport, the Jewel VIP Lounge provides an exclusive space for a select group of guests including government ministers and high-net-worth individuals. At just 145 square metres, the design brief required exceptional attention to detail, with every element of the lighting, furniture and material palette  considered to offer genuine quiet and intimacy amid one of the world’s busiest airports.

A typology of curves

The concept draws from the idea of a ravine, a crack in the earth’s surface, with the main space clad in monolithic natural materials: wood and natural stone. Curved edges run consistently across all four sides of the private room – the stone wall panels, the ceiling and the pantry counter – creating a seamless and enveloping interior. The continuous curve dissolves the boundary between the lounge and the adjacent balcony, giving the compact space a sense of expansiveness and depth.
