Renovation and rebranding of Hong Kong’s first family-oriented children’s mall
The D.Park shopping mall at 398 Castle Peak Road in Tsuen Wan, New Territories, was originally built in 1997 as the retail podium of New World Development’s Discovery Park residential community. The 2012 renovation repositions D.Park as Hong Kong’s first family-oriented themed shopping centre and the world’s first Multiple Intelligence Kids Mall, a concept developed by New World to combine play, learning, and retail under one roof for children under 12. Benoy delivered retail planning, facade design, interior design, landscape design, and graphics for the project.

A tropical rainforest world
The interior design establishes a tropical rainforest environment from the moment of arrival. Cartoon characters, crocodiles, parrots, and leopards, inhabit a world of deep blue rivers, lush green forests, and towering flora, creating an immersive, exploration-led atmosphere that runs consistently through the mall’s over 160 retail and food and beverage outlets. The bold colour palette and themed features are sustained throughout all levels, giving the development a coherent identity distinct from any conventional retail environment in Hong Kong.
