Benoy was proclaimed Merit Award Winner for Retail and Showroom Spaces for Sanya CDF Mall II at the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2021, one of Asia’s most prestigious design awards honouring design projects globally that have influenced and have had meaningful impact in Asia.
On behalf of Benoy, Terence Seah, Head of Hong Kong, Singapore and Shenzhen, Teri Tsang, Director and Hong Kong Studio Lead, and Maybelyne Ng, Head of Marketing and Communications APAC, attended the DFA Awards Presentation Ceremony on 1st December 2021, held at the newly inaugurated M+ Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, one of the world’s largest and most ambitious cultural projects.
Terence Seah / Teri Tsang went onstage to accept the winner’s trophy.
Other winners include outstanding projects in the region that meaningfully address critical issues such as humanitarian needs, environmental, cultural and sustainable development, and revitalisation through technological advancements, and marriage of functionality and aesthetics.

Sanya CDF Mall Phase II is a pioneering, mixed-use commercial development located in Haitang Bay in Sanya, also known as the “national coast”. The location is a stunning tourist destination in China, offering world-class yachting, luxury five-star hotels, retail and entertainment all amidst lush natural surroundings.
Benoy led the masterplanning and architecture design for Phase II of the development, closely collaborating with the client China International Travel Service (CITS). The vision was to create a world-class destination in Haitang Bay combining retail, entertainment, and leisure into a comprehensive and transformative development – the first and only destination of this type in Hainan province.
