Benoy recently concluded its 2021 APAC Summer Internship Programme, which saw close to 30 student-interns from top universities participate across our Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai Studios.
For 2 – 3 months, the interns gained real-life experience working on actual projects supervised by experienced project leaders, participating in design meetings and presentations and receiving invaluable feedback.
Working in cross-studio teams, the interns also collaborated to produce a Research & Design Competition centered on this year’s theme of “Workplace of the Future”, which was overseen by Gregory Kovacs and Christian Freitag.
Each of the 4 teams worked together to brainstorm ideas, conduct research, and go on site visits to create a presentation to showcase their vision and ideas, dedicating 20% of their overall internship period. The teams were mentored by Christian Freitag, Matthew Bibbey, Edward Ge and Sunny Yu.

Gregory Kovacs, Design Director, said, “It was very inspiring to see how much effort every team put into this competition. It was particularly positive how you all collaborated across 3 studios; we can all learn from that. There is a wealth of ideas that will certainly inspire not only the design of our next home at Causeway Bay but how we think about the design of workplace in our future projects.”
Immersing themselves in the Benoy culture outside of project work, a number of interns also volunteered their time and effort with the Marketing Team to help execute fun extracurricular activities such as the Summer Team Building Event and the Benoy Charity Marketplace event held in support of Feeding Hong Kong.
