Centrum Černý Most
Prague, Czech Republic
Located to the east of Prague, Centrum Černý Most was the first regional shopping centre in the Czech Republic. Since its opening in 1997, it has continued to be a top retail destination in Prague.
Due to its popularity, the client decided to enhance the existing shopping mall to offer a more diverse retail offering. Benoy was appointed to lead the interior design on this extension and refurbishment with the aim of blending the architecture of the two buildings together.
Inspired by the form of a propagating spiral, the ceiling patterns draw visitors towards a “Gastro Food Court” and provide a visual link between the existing and new mall.
The lighting and materials used create a dramatic effect as the spiral continues to wind around the mall. The chosen colours and forms have been inspired by autumn, leaves, cones, shells and seeds, creating a timeless mix of natural colours and textures.
