Official Ground Breaking Event in Riga for Benoy's Akropolis Project

27 July 2017

The Riga AKROPOLE is set to be the most modern shopping centre and office building in the capital of Latvia. At 97,000m² GBA it will provide a wide choice of services and entertainment within one integrated development including an indoor ice arena, shopping, restaurants and an office tower.

The shopping centre will be built on the site of the legendary Kuznetsov porcelain factory; fragments of the facades and other historic remnants of the old factory buildings will be restored and re-purposed within the new project. Benoy are currently engaged with a full design brief for Interior Design Works and to maximise the commercial efficiency of the project. Preliminary construction works started in November 2016; the official Ground Breaking Ceremony took place on Friday 27/08 with the Mayor of Riga and the Ambassador of Lithuania when a time capsule was closed and ‘hidden’ within the construction. The project is due for completion in 2019.
