Benoy is pleased to announce the Mall of Scandinavia has been named Retail & Leisure International (RLI) “2016 Best International Shopping Centre”. The award was announced on 05 May at the RLI Awards dinner held at the Natural History Museum in London where it hosted some of the most prominent retail leaders in Europe.
Designed for Unibail Rodamco, The Mall of Scandinavia provides a new destination for shopping and entertainment in Solna, Sweden which sits within the greater Stockholm area. Designed to integrate with the local community, the new centre introduces a significant new public realm with live, work and play opportunities. The wider development also includes the new National Football Arena, a hotel and conference centre.
The 100,000m² mixed-use development is key to the regeneration of the district and includes retail, a hotel, residential apartments and offices. The project is integrated into the new National Stadium Complex with shared infrastructure, links to the existing rail network and significant new public realm.
Benoy’s design of the building and commercial planning, in conjunction with local Swedish architects Bau, is complemented by the Interior Design from Swedish agency Wingårdhs and Paris-based Saguez and Partners. The integration of The Telia Office Building by Swedish firm Reflex, reinforces the mixed-use credentials of the project. The collaboration and efforts of the designers are apparent in this striking building which is now the benchmark project for retail in Scandinavia.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Global RLI Awards which continually highlights the most innovative and creative retail and leisure designs around the world.
