Benoy, the global studio of Masterplanners, Architects, Interior and Graphic Designers, is honoured to announce that The MixC, Qingdao has been recognised at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) China Awards this year.
Presented at a gala event in Shanghai on 14 April, The MixC, Qingdao was presented with the Silver Award for Design and Development (New Development) by the ICSC.
The MixC in Qingdao is an important component of the city’s landmark building group, the City Crossing development. The retail scheme is also the flagship development of the China Resources Land MixC Mall portfolio. The integrated retail-led podium has one of the largest and most extensive offers in the country. Covering a GFA of 450,000m2, the mall brings together Retail, Food and Beverage, Entertainment, Education and Culture across its nine storeys.
Benoy’s Interior Design Team drew inspiration from Qingdao’s coastal setting and introduced undulating, wavelike forms throughout the development. The curved floor pattern, feature ceilings and main atrium have all embodied elements of the ocean to give striking focal points throughout the design.
The ICSC China Awards Programme launched last year under the ICSC Global Awards. The awards have been designed to recognise excellence, innovation and creativity within China’s retail real estate industry honouring outstanding achievement in the design and development of retail properties and stores.
