Benoy, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is excited to announce a successful night at the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Gold Awards held last week in central London.
Benoy won a Gold Award at the annual awards night which was attended by members of the Team who worked extensively on these exciting projects in the centre of Woking. Benoy Director and London Studio Head David Ellis hosted the Benoy table at the dinner where the awards were presented.
“It is always an honour having our work recognised by our peers and we were delighted to share that with the design Team,” David said of the evening.
Winning the award for Best Refurbishment/Extension over £5 million on the night was Benoy’s scheme for Woking Shopping, an ongoing vision to refurbish and reconfigure the heart of Woking.
Steve Gill, Benoy Divisional Director and Woking Project Leader, described the development as “an exciting scheme bringing a fresh vitality to the town and creating a place for the residents of Woking to enjoy shopping, relaxing and living.”
“Winning the BCSC Gold Award is a highlight for Benoy, and I think this award signals the importance of a development which is not just about shopping but about creating enjoyable places for the people of Woking,” Steve said.
Also, shortlisted on the night was St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool in the Best Refurbishment/Extension under £5 million category. This compilation of individual projects will help regenerate Liverpool’s city centre.
“Both Woking and St Johns are indicative of the fresh approach Benoy brings,” commented David. “It is a real honour to have these developments recognised at such a respected event.”
In its 29th year, the BCSC Gold Awards are a highlight of the UK retail industry. The awards dinner was held on 3 December at the Grosvenor House in London.
