Chengdu IFS Double Win at China Property Awards and APIDA

27 November 2014

Benoy, the international award-winning firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers is honoured to announce that Chengdu International Finance Square (IFS) has been recognised by two prestigious awards programs this month.

The development was presented with the China Property Award for Best Mixed-Use Development (South China) and also the Asia Pacific Interior Design Award (APIDA) for ‘Best 10’ in the Shopping Space category.

“It is an honour to see Chengdu IFS awarded for both its functionality and design by these two esteemed programs. We would like to congratulate our partner Wharf China Estates Limited and thank them for their support and collaboration. The China Property Award showcases the development for its leadership in the real estate industry. Marrying commercial viability with design excellence is not an easy approach to master but one which we have excelled at with Chengdu IFS,’ commented Ferdinand Cheung, Director.

“To win Benoy’s first APIDA is also a very proud moment for our team. We worked very hard to make sure Chengdu IFS was not only a shopping component of a wider mixed-use development, but that it had its own personality and characteristic. As the designer of both the Architecture and Interior Design, we were fortunate to be able to undertake this holistically, and allow the interior and exterior play off each other. The APIDA helps validate that we got this relationship right.”

This is the inaugural year for the China Property Awards. After almost a decade of the running the successful Asia Property Awards, the organisers decided to shine the spotlight on China’s burgeoning property market. Demonstrating the massive scope of the market, the awards attracted the top developers, developments and design firms from Hong Kong, China and Macau with a total of 21 awards presented.

APIDA, now in its 22nd year run by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association, recognises outstanding interior design projects and designers. This year the program attracted 650 entries from the Asia Pacific region. Chengdu IFS was the only shopping centre to make the ‘Best 10’ list for Shopping Space and was judged on its originality and innovation, functionality, space planning and aesthetics.

Since opening in the CBD of Chengdu, China in January this year, Chengdu IFS has been high on the industry radar. In 2013 it was awarded ‘The Shopping Mall Potential Star’ by the Association of Mall China and the ‘2013 Most Anticipated Shopping Mall’ by West China Media Group. This year Chengdu IFS was recognised on the international stage as one of six shortlisted Shopping Malls at the World Architecture Festival.
