Benoy, the international, award-winning firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is proud to announce the opening of its new shopping centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Dostyk Plaza.
Dostyk Plaza has raised the bar for retail design to a new level in Almaty. Its place in the centre of this city has provided an exciting destination and a public space contributing to the city’s public realm.
Benoy was tasked with reworking the original elevations together with reviewing the internal malls to create a bright inviting interior with areas to pause and relax.
Both cinema and food court areas were reshaped with distinctive colour palettes to create strong destination points in between the malls.
The main triple height glass entrance lobby provides a dramatic entry point from the lower plaza which adds to the visitors’ delight in coming to the mall.
The upper plaza contains a feature restaurant that links the lower plaza via wide external stairs flanked, by soft landscaping either side, which lead into the upper plaza. Here the retail units within this open plaza have highly distinctive shopfronts creating an exclusive area dedicated to high end brands.
Divisional Director Andrew Maryniak described Dostyk Plaza as ‘a key retail development within the heart of Almaty providing a unique experience for all who visit to sample a new exciting retail and entertainment environment.’
