30 August 2014

It is with the deepest regret that Benoy announces the passing of Global Director, Peter McCaffery. Peter was not only a superb architect but a gentleman and a truly kind and gentle soul who will be missed dearly.

“Peter had a true vitality for life, he was a passionate sailor and an incredibly respected designer and leader. We will remember him for his dedication to his work, his Team and his community. Our heartfelt condolences and thoughts are with his wife Mara at this time and our Benoy family cherishes the wonderful memories we have of our very dear friend Peter,” said Graham Cartledge, Benoy Chairman.

When Benoy took the bold leap into foreign markets and opened its Hong Kong Studio in 2002, Peter was one of the first members to join the Team. His impact was fundamental in establishing and propelling Benoy’s presence in Hong Kong, China and indeed throughout Asia. In his role as Global Director and Head of the Hong Kong Studio, Peter oversaw and guided Benoy’s success not only in the Asia-Pacific region but around the world.

“Peter’s integrity, humility and kindness were recognised by all who worked with him. Beyond his position at Benoy, he was a role model and mentor to so many of us. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye and with pride that we see the gift of his legacy live on,” said Graham Cartledge.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Hebe Haven Yacht Club, Pak Sha Wan, Hong Kong for friends and colleagues on Thursday, August 7, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

On Friday, August 8, all are welcome to pay their final respects to Peter at the Hong Kong Funeral Home, North Point between 4:00pm and 10:00pm. A condolence book will be available at both venues.

For those who wish to make a memorial donation may do so to Orangutan Aid,, or a charity of choice in memory of Peter.
