Benoy, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is excited to announce another successful turn at the Global RLI Awards, held at the Natural History Museum in London with about 400 guests in attendance.
Four Benoy developments were shortlisted against stiff competition, and won one award, in a great night for the entire firm. The annual awards dinner was attended by colleagues from both UK studios who worked extensively on these global projects. London Studio Director David Ellis and Head of Europe Studio Robert Bishop hosted the Benoy table at the dinner.
Winning on the night was The Galleria at Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi for best International Retail and Leisure Destination 2014! The Galleria is a premium retail and dining centre with stunning views across the new promenade and the water beyond. This project is indeed a global destination for retail and leisure. David Ellis and Head of London Interior Design Michelle King accepted the award on behalf of Benoy.
‘A lot of hardwork and tireless hours went into these ground breaking developments which span the globe,’ David said of the awards night and nominees.
It’s an honour to have Benoy’s work highlighted alongside the excellent nominated schemes. Other shortlisted Benoy projects included the iAPM centre for the best International Shopping Centre 2014, a seven storey retail podium which is a key aspect of the new Shanghai ICC development connected seamlessly to the commercial and residential life of Shanghai.
Also, Centrum Černý Most in Prague was nominated for best Shopping Centre Renovation 2014. This mall was a complete interior and exterior renovation for the first regional shopping centre in the Czech Republic. The Westgate Shopping Centre in Singapore was nominated for the Most Innovative Retail and Leisure Concept 2014. Westgate is a dynamic mixed use plan with retail, leisure and commercial aspects in the Jurong East district of Singapore.
‘Awards nights such as RLI are appreciated for highlighting the innovative work being undertaken in this sector’, Robert Bishop commented. He added that ‘creating pioneering schemes around the world has become synonymous with the Benoy offer; it is great to receive recognition for this work.’
The awards event comes at the end of the RLI Connect networking showcase held 4-5 June at Stamford Bridge in London. The Benoy Team held meetings with past, current and potential clients during the two day event.
