Benoy, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is thrilled to announce the Phoenix Market City development has been honoured at the Images Shopping Centre Awards (ISCA), held earlier this month.
Phoenix Market City, Pune, India won the ‘Most Admired Shopping Centre of the Year (Non-Metro)’ at the 7th annual ISCA, held at the Renaissance Hotel, Mumbai. Benoy has previously won this award for the Phoenix Market City centre in 2013.
This shopping centre consists of a 190,000m² main complex and a 21,600m² bazaar-mall. The multi-award winning five-storey retail centre is topped with an entertainment level and a beautifully landscaped central courtyard.
A looping driveway provides convenient access to the independent drop-offs, while the main retail entrance facing Nagar Road is now instantly recognisable with its ribbon-like glass canopy. Wrapping around the podium, this fluid structure forms a sheltered plaza at a main entrance for public enjoyment as well as acting as a ‘canvas’ for a large digital screen.
Benoy Director David Ellis said it is ‘an honour to win this prestigious award for the second year in a row. Winning at ISCA acknowledges Pune’s rise to a commercial metropolis and reaffirms the significant work Benoy is doing in India and around the world.’
The Benoy team worked with The Phoenix Mills LTD to create this award-winning mixed-use centre which has helped to transform the city.
Benoy has been working in India for several years and is seeing a promising growth in the retail market with new and exciting shopping centres throughout the country.
